The term information technology has ballooned to encompass many aspects of computing and technology, and the term has become very recognizable. When computer and communications technologies are combined, the result is information technology, or "infotech". Information technology (IT) is "the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware." IT deals with the use of electronic computers and computer software to convert, store, protect, process, transmit, and securely retrieve information. IT professionals perform a variety of duties that range from installing applications to designing complex computer networks and information databases.
The department of Information Technology in 2010 has the distinction of being one of the oldest departments in the Institute. The faculty believes in high quality teaching and is very active in projects, conferences and research publications, workshops, short term training programs, faculty development programs, co-curricular activities such as value addition programs, expert lectures etc. We have a nice blend of faculty members belonging to different age groups and areas of expertise, having good academic qualifications and track records, experience in offering consultation services, teaching and professional experience etc. We are also associated with and taking benefit of capabilities of eminent people - proven experts - in their own areas of interest.
